Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris)
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are eastern North America’s sole breeding hummingbird and the smallest bird in North Dakota. Its heart pumps an incredible 1,260 beats per minute and it breathes 250 times per minute. They weigh in at just over 1/10 of an ounce and a wing beat of 50
to 60 times per second.
Wow… no wonder humans are so fascinated by these beautiful tiny birds.
